Swiftly deploying its project across various European nations, a Slovakian firm behind the innovative Ecocapsule series of micro-homes has officially declared its impending launch in the United States.
The grand unveiling of the Ecocapsule micro-homes is set to take place during NYCxDESIGN 2019, an annual design extravaganza in New York spanning from May 10 to 22, located in the vibrant heart of Times Square. Crafted by the skilled hands of the Nice & Wise design studio (formerly recognized as Nice Architects), the Ecocapsule home boasts a mobile, energy-efficient design with a distinctive egg-shaped silhouette. Tailored for two adults, this compact dwelling comes complete with a built-in kitchen.
Noteworthy features include a toilet, hot shower, fold-out bed, and ample storage for sporting or exploration gear. The initial batch of micro-homes hit the market in 2015, earning the Ecocapsule project a spot on the shortlist of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD competition. In 2018, the project garnered attention when showcased atop the UNIQ building in central Bratislava. The company’s plan involves selling a limited series of 50 micro-homes to interested buyers in the USA, Japan, Australia, and the EU.
NYCxDESIGN stands as a yearly ode to design in New York, drawing crowds of designers and visitors from across the globe. Over the course of 12 days, the event invites both residents and city guests to explore these self-sufficient micro-homes.
Thomas, the driving force behind the project, aspires to unearth new distributors and foster collaborative efforts. Fueled by substantial interest, particularly within the hospitality sector, the company envisions a strategic expansion in that direction.
